The Land Down Under is about that feeling, the presence of nature, the light, and the way the land seems to breathe on its own. There’s something about standing in front of it, the colours, the silence, the heat rising off the ground and that makes me realise how alive it all is.
 
I’m not trying to change it or make it something else, just to capture a small part of what it gives us every day. I use layers of collage over paint because the land itself feels layered and built over time. Our country is marked by weather, stories, and the history of our people. When I work, I build those layers slowly, adding and taking away until it feels right.
